Of course, a healthy body is what we all want, but looks are important to many of us. With all the midriff-baring fashions out there right now, everyone seems to be focusing on the abdominal area. Medical professionals are also focusing on that area because there is evidence that shows that those who tend to gain weight in that area tend to have more problems with high blood pressure and heart disease.

For these reasons, people are really interested in flat belly diets.

One version, published by Prevention Magazine, is based on the Mediterranean Diet and promises weight loss of approximately 15 lbs in 32 days. Those on the diet are told to eat olives, avocados, nuts, seeds, dark chocolate or other sources of monounsaturated fats at every meal, claiming these fats help melt away belly fat.

However, according to WebMD website, this claim is unfounded.

Other people say you can get a flat belly by avoiding "white foods" such as potatoes, white rice, white flour and sugar.

This can be a difficult proposition and it will take diligence, but research seems to show that by avoiding these foods your belly will indeed be flatter and more attractive. In today's world, this form of flat belly diet can be difficult to achieve.
